A friend of mine asked me to find him a Tool vid and so I pulled this down. My interest in Rock and Roll has kind of passed, and my knowledge of Tool is almost completely zero. Nevertheless, I scanned over the disks and decided to post a few screenshots. First off, the shooter does transparently excellent work and his Sony HC3 captures kick ass footage with its solid 10X optical zoom. Sound is not quite as amazing, but still very good.  There were a few other shows I was debating between, and one of the commentators on the thread mentioned that this might be the best of what's out there. The best period, as there is no official concert DVD product. Which perhaps makes sense, as the band in perpetually back lit and shies away from theatrics.  But this forces them to adopt a closer involvement with video than most other acts.  Regardless of your attitude about the actual imagery, which, like the music, is very much a reflection of the band's aesthetic, you have to be fairly impressed
by the video rig. A little internet tells me that their projection designer Breckinridge Haggerty is a innovator as far as live video is concerned.  He went on on to use hardware he developed for Tool- NEV, a video controller that takes DMX instruction, and Omega Deck, a rugged storage unit with high speed access, to work with some higher profile performers such as Sting and Eminem
